Composition II -- Activities for Week 16 -- May 3-7, 1999

Monday:

• Portfolios due.
• Quoting exercise:  I want you to write three sentences that incorporate one of your sources.
  1. Introduce with the author and title of the essay a 1-sentence quotation.
  2. Introduce with the author and title of the essay a 1-sentence paraphrase.
  3. Introduce with the author and title of the essay a combination paraphrase and quoted sentence.
• Sign up for a conference on Wednesday or Friday
• Work on your research paper.

Wednesday: No formal class meeting.   Instead I will hold individual conferences in the classroom.  You may still come to class to work on your research project even if you are not signed up for a conference.  Bring a detailed outline of your research essay to the conference.   Arrive on time.  Skipped conferences cannot be made up and will count as two absences.

Friday: Conference day.  If you did not sign up for a conference on Wednesday, you must see me today.  The same info from above applies.

Homework for the week: Complete a rough draft of your research essay for the Peer Review Workshop on Monday (May 10).  On Wednesday (May 12), we will begin discussing our final exam.
