Composition II -- Activities for Week 8-- Mar. 8-12, 1999

Monday and Wednesday:  Drafting, Revising, and Conferencing days for Portfolio 1.  

These class periods are reserved for you to devote time for your first portfolio project.  During these classes, I will also meet individually with students to discuss their progress on the essays.

The portfolio counts for a major portion of your class grade, so you want to use the time during these two classes wisely.  You are required to be in class even if you have not signed up for a conference for one of the two days.  Attendance will be taken both days, and absences will affect your attendance and participation grade at the end of the semester (as all absences do).

Friday:

• Portfolio 1 Due.  All items should be included in a folder.  Check the assignment sheet to make sure you have everything that is needed.  Portfolios are due at the beginning of the hour.  Any portfolio turned in after the portfolios have been collected is considered late.
• Discussion of extra credit opportunity.
• Introduction to the in-class critique essay (March 29, 1999).
• Critique Activity: Read one of Roger Ebert's movie reviews and write a reaction to it using the guidelines I will give you in class.
