The hospital stay

30-36 weeks gestational age

5 pounds, 18 inches

Parvaneh was doing very well, but she had to stay in the hospital until she could regulater her own temperature and take all of her food orally. She was hooked up to a variety of machines and devices. On the first day, she had an IV, a gavage tube, a temperature monitor, a "pulse ox" or oxygen sensor, and three leads to track heartbeat and resperation. By the time she left, she was just down to the three leads. The tube in her nose is the gavage tube, which was used for feeding. It goes directly into her stomach. The blue pictures are under the "bili lights." Turns out she just had breastmilk jaundice, which really doesn't need treatment.
