THE BASICS OF FRACTIONS     Denominators of fractions

To create a fraction, a whole has to be cut into equal pieces.

The number of pieces becomes the denominator of a fraction related to that whole.

The denominator is the bottom of a fraction.

In each of these circles, you should count to tell into how many equal pieces the whole has been cut.  You should then be able to determine the denominator of a fraction related to this whole circle.

Remember, the number of equal pieces into which a whole is cut is the same as the denomionator of a fraction related to that whole!
