WAC Interview Project

To give you experience with writing from a different type of research—while you learn something that will be helpful beyond this class—let’s interview faculty across JCCC about how and why they use writing in their courses and what skills students need to have when they come into their classes.  Just to add to the learning experiences, let’s work in groups to collect information.  (Group paper writing is optional.)

Paper

The papers (approximately 500 words) that this project will yield will, no doubt, vary widely.  Many of you may wish to work as a whole group.  Others may wish to write in pairs or individually.  Whomever you interview and whatever approach to decide to use, you’ll want to include the following:

bullet

Demographic information about the subject and the subject area

bullet

Information about the use of writing

bullet

Connections between what you learned and students’ prior writing experiences

bullet

Your observations and reflections

I will be reading the papers for the

  1. information

  2. organization of that information

  3. coherence of the paper as a whole

  4. development of ideas in the paper

  5. standard English

With your final paper submit any field notes, interview notes, and the subject’s signed release.
