Chair, Accounting Department

I have been an instructor at JCCC since 1980, teaching as an adjunct and now full-time faculty member. Currently, I am serving as the Chair for the Accounting Department and teaching online classes in Accounting Principles I , Accounting Principles II, and Managerial Accounting.
My education includes an A.A. degree from JCCC (1976); a B.A. degree from Avila College (1979); and an M.B.A. from the University of Kansas (1989). The CMA certification was completed in 1998.
My memberships include the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), Phi Delta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Phi Kappa Phi. I am currently serving as the Treasurer for the Board of Directors and have been a past commissioner on the Associate Degree Commission of the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). I am also serving as a member on site visitation teams for Accreditation and Reaffirmation. In addition, I serve on three ACBSP board committees (Nominations, Audit, and Personnel) and am the designated liaison between the Marketing Committee and the Board of Directors.
I was awarded the JCCC's Distinguished Service Awards for Teaching Excellence in 1999-2000, 2001-2002, 2003-2004, 2005-2006, and 2008-2009. In 1999, I received the ACBSP Region Five Teaching Award and the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Teaching and Leadership Excellence Award. I was nominated for the JCCC Burlington Northern Santa Fe Faculty Achievement Award in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. I was one of the 2002 and 2008 Recipients of the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Faculty Achievement Award.
