Humanities:

The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art at Johnson County Community College: this is JCCC's on-campus museum of art; the Nerman website offers several helpful links, including a selective overview of the permanent collection, as well as information about current and upcoming special exhibitions, installations, and presentations.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City: this website has several examples and descriptions of its holdings (primarily sculpture and painting) from various historical periods. It also provides schedules and updates for current and upcoming events and exhibits.

The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City: this website has many examples of its permanent holdings and current exhibits by contemporary artists. It also provides schedules and updates for current and upcoming events and exhibits.

The Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas in Lawrence: this website has many examples of its permanent holdings and current exhibits. It also provides schedules and updates for current and upcoming events and exhibits.

The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC: contains several on-line examples and descriptions of its holdings and special exhibits from various historical periods.

The Louvre in Paris, France: contains several on-line examples and descriptions of the holdings of one of the finest collections in the world.

The Metropolitan Museum in New York: contains several on-line examples, descriptions of its holdings and special exhibits from various historical periods.

The Chicago Art Institute: contains several on-line examples, descriptions of its holdings and special exhibits from various historical periods.

The National Museum of African Art in Washington, DC: a Smithsonian Institution-sponsored site devoted solely to African artforms from various African cultures and historical periods.

Asian Arts in San Francisco: a site devoted solely to Asian artforms from various Asian cultures and historical periods.

Prentice-Hall Publishers: this is the publishing company for our textbook for HUM 145/HUM 146 Introduction to World Humanities. It provides some sample analyses of various works of art, as well as links to many additional art resources. You can search them by artist or by art work.

Johnson County Community College: this is the link to the JCCC homepage. Check it out for current and upcoming concerts, performances and art exhibits here on campus.

JCCC Theatre Department: a schedule and synopsis of the plays being produced this year (both semesters) by the JCCC Theatre Department. These performances are free to JCCC students with valid ID cards.

Artcyclopedia: a huge database of visual arts, searchable by both artwork title and artist. It also provides links to other museum and gallery sites.

ARTstor: similar to Artcyclopedia above, a huge database of visual arts, searchable by both artwork title and artist.

Religion:

NAINet: the North American Interfaith Network offers an exhaustive selection of internet sites organized by individual world religious traditions, as well as by general topics, such as sacred texts, mysticism, new religious movements, interfaith issues, etc.

Beliefnet: resources similar to NAINet, but geared toward a somewhat more popular audience

BuddhaNet: an Australian site that offers a wide selection of material on Buddhist doctrine, practice, and culture
